I am extremely excited to announce that Kirk Averitt will be joining our music staff as the Chancel Choir director, effective September 1. 

I have so enjoyed working with our dedicated section leaders during the pandemic and welcoming back our choir members during the past year.  However, the physical layout of our sanctuary, piano and organ make it necessary to have two musicians leading the congregation and choir in worship music.  I will continue to play weekly for worship services and will remain as the Director of Music Ministries to oversee the direction of our entire music program and to be a resource for Kirk as he continues the outstanding tradition of music at Church of the Good Shepherd. 

Kirk is currently the Choral Director and Assistant to the Director of Vocal Arts at the California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley, where I serve as Dean of Arts.  I have worked with him for the past two years and feel tremendously proud to have him lead our Chancel Choir.

Congratulations to custodian Jeff Doran on the birth of his daughter in July.  He will be spending time with his wife and family at their home in the Philippines for the next few months.

Thank you also to Nick Ostry who will be the substitute custodian.   Nick grew up in this church and just recently graduated from Rosemead High School.  It is wonderful to have him work for the church this Fall.

And welcome to new hire, Francisco Acero, Facility Maintenance Staff.   Francisco also works for Sierra Madre United Methodist Church.  And he will be working for the church and children’s center 2-3 days a week including Sunday afternoons.
