The youth will be selling SSP Stock (Sierra Service Project) after church in the Courtyard to raise money for their service projects this summer in San Diego and at CGS.
Due to COVID, our participating youth will have two opportunities for this summer. One is the chance to go to San Diego (Sunday, July 24 – Friday, July 30th), and the other is the opportunity to participate at an SSP program at Church of the Good Shepherd in the evenings that same week.
Those going to San Diego will have the fantastic opportunity to tent camp for the week. The plan is to stay in the campgrounds as a church group and will be work during the week as a church group as well. The group will get the opportunity to meet other church youth during meals, free time, and evening programs.
More details will follow, but for planning purposes, we need to know who would like to go to San Diego, and who would like to participate at Church of the Good Shepherd by this Sunday, March 27, 2022. If you need more time to decide, please let me know.

Who Uses the Church Kitchen?
Because of pandemic restrictions the church kitchen and Jordan Hall have had limited use since 2020, but as we come out of the pandemic, the need to return to using both the kitchen and Jordan Hall will grow.
Within our congregation the church kitchen and Jordan Hall have been used for Sunday morning coffee fellowship, by United Women in Faith (formerly UMW) for events and fundraisers, by Sarah Circle for meetings, by our fellowship groups, by Vacation Bible School, by UMYF for meetings and Cabaret, for Nursery School programs, by Family Promise, for choir receptions, for funeral, memorial, and bridal receptions, and also by the church staff and nursery school staff.
The church kitchen and Jordan Hall have also been used by civic organizations such as PEO, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, the Arcadia Coordinating Council, the Mid-Valley Arts Association, Newcomers Club, and the Model A Club.
How will the renovation benefit our congregation as well as outside groups?
Renovating the kitchen will encourage these groups and clubs to return and perhaps increase their use of the facilities. The kitchen design will provide greater functionality and enhance prepping and serving capabilities for both small groups and larger receptions and events.
Our Fundraising Goal
This is not like renovating a home kitchen as we need to meet state, county, and local standards. The estimated cost of this project is $300,000. The Board of Trustees has agreed to fund a good part of the cost, but more funds will be needed. Keep in mind the extent of this renovation and increased costs due to supply line difficulties and ever- present inflation.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Please consider making a donation to the Kitchen Project. You can contribute on-line through by selecting ‘Online Giving’ on the website home page or by check made payable to Church of the Good Shepherd with “Kitchen Project” in the memo line and mailed to the church office.
For more information, please attend the Kitchen walk through on April 3rd after the 10 a.m. service.

It has become a tradition at our church to have special Chancel Flowers on Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day in honor of all those who have served or are currently serving in our country’s armed forces.
We would like to honor your service, or the service of a loved one, by adding your name, rank and the branch in which you served to our list.
We invite you to give a donation to the flower fund to keep this tradition going. Checks should be made payable to “Church of the Good Shepherd” and turned into the office with “Veterans’ Flowers” on the memo line of the check.
Suggested annual donation of $20 covers both holidays. Those making a donation will be shown with an asterisk, but all who have served or are currently serving will be listed.
