Family Promise San Gabriel Valley (FPSGV) is an affiliate of Family Promise (FP), a national program whose mission is to help families challenged with homelessness and low income achieve sustainable independence through a community-based approach.
An interfaith hospitality network of 13 congregations in the Sab Gabriel Valley provides temporary short-term food and shelter through host congregations. Families are sheltered at different locations week to week until they are able to find permanent housing.

Family Promise strives to transform the lives of children and their families who are experiencing homelessness because every child deserves a home.
Church of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is one of the FPSGV hosting congregations. As of 2021, we have hosted 31 different weeks serving over 45 families with over 82 children.
We host guest families 4 times during the year for one week at a time. As a hosting congregation, we provide shelter, meals, fellowship, safety, and security. Our volunteer hosts who help prepare meals, actively engage with the children and families, and sleep overnight are members of our church and the community.
Knowing that church members and supporting friends, have provided nutrition for the body and soul of our guest families has made a tremendous impact on all of us! Our guest families are so appreciative of the love, warmth, compassion, and welcoming!
